Description In 1943 Lee Miller visited the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, where the Presbyterian Hospital of New York had a base during the war. In British Vogue, Lee reported: 'There the patients range from G.I. Joe, who got out too far on the big apple tree, to a lad back from too close attention in bombing the continent; but mostly men suffering from frostbite of high altitudes, exposure in open boats, and wounds of just plain heroism.'
